Windows tray app

Show the visual novel you're reading on Discord

Shiori RPC is a small tray app. It reads the title of the VN's window and puts the game's name, your current chapter or route, the time read and its cover on your Discord profile. Most engines work with no setup.

One light .exe (about 9 MB), nothing else to install. Written in Rust with Tauri. Source on GitHub.

What it does

  • Finds the VN by itself: Ren'Py, KiriKiri, SiglusEngine, BGI and more, and games on emulators. You can also pick the window by hand.
  • Shows where you are: prologue, chapter, route or ending, read from the window title (English, French and Japanese).
  • Tracks time read for each VN, with a day-by-day history, a reading calendar with streaks, and your progress against the average length on VNDB.
  • Adds the cover from VNDB or an image link.
  • Lets you choose what friends see, game by game: everything, no chapter, just "Visual Novel", or nothing.
Visual Novel RPC is now Shiori RPC

Same app, new name, starting with version 2.2.0. The update is offered in the app as usual, and your settings, Library, time read and covers are copied over on the first launch (details).

New in 2.0

The app was rewritten in Rust with Tauri: a much lighter .exe and a snappier window, with the same features. Coming from 1.x? The update is offered in the app as usual, and your settings, Library, time read and covers are picked up on the first launch (details). Settings now save as soon as you change them: there's no Save button anymore.

The main window while you read: the VN found, and what your friends see on Discord.
