Library
Every VN you've played with the app running, with its time read, status and a Play button.
The list
At the top: how many games, the total time read and this week's (since Monday). Each card shows the cover, the status, the time read, when you last played and the VNDB id. The VN you're reading right now has a green outline and a Now reading badge.
- Sort: Most read, Recent or A–Z.
- Filter: type in Filter… to search by name, or pick a status in All statuses.
- ▶ Play starts the game. If it says Locate… instead, the app doesn't know where the .exe is yet (or it moved): point it to the game's .exe once. Games installed through Steam usually start through Steam, like from your Steam library.
- Random from wishlist: can't decide what to read next? See VNDB list & wishlist.
Reading days
Under the totals, a calendar of the last year: one square per day, brighter when you read more. Hover a day to see how long you read and which VNs. Above it: how many days you read in the last year, your current streak (days in a row, today or yesterday included) and your best one. The calendar shows up once you've read on at least one day in the last year.
Views
The button next to Filter… changes how the Library looks. Your choice is remembered.
- List (default): the cards above, with a bar for the time read.
- Grid: big covers, with the status on them and a ▶ button on hover.
- Compact: a table with the title, status, time read and last played.
- Shelves: the grid, split by status: Reading, Finished, Stalled, Dropped, then the VNs with no status.
A VN's page
Click a card to open its page.
- The .exe's path under the name: click it to open the game's folder.
- Change VN / cover…: pick another VNDB entry or picture, even when the game isn't running (see Covers).
- Tiles: Total read, This week (since Monday), Sessions, Last played.
- Progress: your time read compared with the average length on VNDB, like 80% · average ~40h. It's only a rough guide: your reading speed and the routes you play change it. Past the average, it says so. Shown when the VN is matched on VNDB and VNDB knows its length.
- Status: Reading, Finished, Stalled or Dropped. A VN you start is set to Reading.
- Rating: your VNDB vote, sent to your VNDB account. Needs your VNDB token and a confirmed VNDB match: if the page shows Confirm next to the VNDB id, click it once you've checked it's the right VN.
- Launch with: Normal, Locale Emulator or NTLEA, for Japanese games that show garbled text. See Japanese locale.
- Discord privacy: Full, Partial, Private or Off, for this VN only. See Discord status.
- Time read chart: day by day over the last 30 days, or by week over 12 weeks.
- Screenshots of this VN, with View all to open them in the gallery.
VNs from your VNDB list
The Library can also show the VNs you finished before using the app, even if they aren't on this PC. See VNDB list & wishlist.
Fix the time read
Read part of the VN before installing the app, or forgot to close it overnight? Click the ✎ next to Total read, enter the hours and minutes, and click Save. The day-by-day history doesn't change: only the total does.
The same VN twice
A VN can end up with two entries, for example if you reinstalled it somewhere else. When the app thinks two entries are the same game (same VNDB entry, same .exe, or the same .exe in a folder with the same name), the VN's page says so: Looks like the same game as “…”.
Merge them makes one entry out of the two: the time read, day-by-day history and sessions are added up, and the screenshots go into the same folder. The entry with the most time read is the one kept, and its choices (cover, status, privacy) win. This can't be undone. Close the game before merging.
A game moved or copied to a folder with the same name (another drive, for example) keeps its entry, so most of the time there's nothing to merge.
Remove a VN
Remove forgets the VN's saved time read, reading history, cover and privacy settings. Nothing is uninstalled, and its screenshots are kept. If you start the game again, it comes back as a new entry. Close the game first: a VN can't be removed while it's running.
To hide a program from the Library for good (a launcher, a game that isn't a VN), use Not a VN while it runs, or add it in Settings → Never detect. Windows' own programs are hidden by themselves.
